In many cases, yes — with proper protocols. The critical requirements for occupied-building remediation are: (1) proper containment that prevents mold disturbance from affecting the occupied areas; (2) HEPA negative air machines creating inward airflow within the containment zone; (3) building air handling system management to prevent contaminated air from circulating through occupied areas; and (4) communication with building management about work zones and access restrictions. For very large infestations or situations where containment cannot adequately protect an occupied space, temporary relocation of occupants in the immediate work area is sometimes necessary.
